Gabinka a.k.a (Gabriela Geenen) is a very talented and unique Swiss painter. Branding encompassing trademarks, merchandising as well as increasing public awareness of this unique swiss Painter.
With her Pop Art style of work, Gabinka expresses experiences, feelings, and emotion but also flirts with hints of sex, power, and pain. Painting, drawing, and sketch, are all instinctual traits for Gabinka and the messages and expressions in her art are limitless. Many of Gabinka’s masterpieces feature monsters and “the horned one”, both with a malicious smile or with the expression of the constant presence of good and bad in our daily life.
Gabinka was born on October 26, 1973 in Jablonec nad Nisou in the Czech Republic. As a child, Gabinka often had dreams of monsters, prompted by her difficult childhood in the communistic rule in, Czech Republic. The turning point in Gabinka’s life was when she turned 18 years old, at the end of the revolution, which brought relief and the opportunity to discover the free, western world.
The beholder of her Pop Art masterpieces will be captured by the play of colours which will inspire to think about her pictures and about the hidden messages in Gabinka’s paintings. To paint, draw and sketch always belonged to Gabinka’s life. Sometimes her subconscious mind turned inside out and manifested itself in her artwork.
Her first big private view in September 2012 in Lyss was seen by different art critics, visitors and the media. Gabinka and her little family have been living in Switzerland since 1997. The expressions and the messages which are shown in her art and in her pictures are not limited. One thing which influenced Gabinkas life was the death of her mother in 2012. It showed her the limits of our existence but it also gave her the experience, how much such an emotional event can influence the expression of her paintings.
Wild, Wild Hollywood
This piece was done as a tribute to the Hollywood sign. It caught the attention of the President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce who requested to have merchandise done based on this artwork. Fans are now able purchase the first products in the famous La La Land store, on Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Street, in Los Angeles.
Gabinka successfully debuted her artwork on the North American Art scene at ArtBasel Miami. She showcased her musician paintings series at the South Seas Hotel, 1751 Collins, Miami between the 4h to the 7th of December 2014. It included artists portraits of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Bob Marley.
