Longo is always on the lookout for prospective clients, and when he isn’t working on revolutionary products like the Precision Pak, he is attending trade shows to further the brand’s reach. Totalprestige Magazine caught up with the very busy Daniel Frank Longo to find out more about his company, Precision LTC Pharmacy.
Daniel, please tell us about Precision LTC Pharmacy and services you provide.
Precision LTC Pharmacy is an institutional pharmacy that serves the long-term care industry. We provide pharmacy services to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living residences, transitional adult homes, residential programs, addiction treatment centers, and group homes. We currently service thousands of residents living in these type of facilities.
Can you tell us about your company’s latest venture, Precision Pak?
The Precision Pak is our newest venture which is helping us tap into the independent living market. The Precision Pak is suitable for anybody living on Long Island, New York (not just our local neighborhood) who takes multiple medications. We pre-sort all of the customer’s medications into a single package for the specified time of day and then deliver it straight to their doorstep at no additional charge. We send a monthly supply of all the customer’s medications rolled into a dispensing box sorted by date and time of dosage. Each day’s medication can simply be torn from the strip and easily placed in a purse or pocket. When you need to take a med, simply tear off the next Pak (package) and verify you have the correct date and time. Everybody is so used to managing their meds themselves, having eight different prescription bottles and pre-sorting their meds into planners every week. Our pharmacy takes all the guess work out of the equation and we make sure you are always taking the right medication at the right time. We are one of the very few pharmacies in the region that offer this type of packaging.
Daniel, please tell us what makes Precision LTC Pharmacy stand out from competitors?
Simply, service, our key staff and leadership team work 24 hours, seven days a week and 365 days a year to ensure client satisfaction. We always go above and beyond our duties and it shows. We have successfully grown organically due to our exemplary service record, not by acquisition. We stand proud knowing Precision LTC Pharmacy is one of the only family-owned and operated long-term care pharmacies around. Most long-term care pharmacies are owned by major corporations or publicly held.
Tell us how your career began and what are some of the highlights?.
My father started the company with his partner 20 years ago. I came on board when I graduated from college to service our current clients. Once I started to familiarize myself with the company’s systems and processes along with fine-tuning my sales skills, it just took off from there.
What has been your most rewarding professional experience?
It took my team and I 14 months to finally complete the sales cycle for an organization that just recently made the switch to Precision LTC Pharmacy. After many meetings and follow-up calls, the end result made it all worth it.
How do you find inspiration?
One of the best things in life is we never stop learning. I find inspiration through education and by always asking questions. This triggers my brain to flow with new ideas leading to new opportunities.
What is the most challenging part of your work?
It is a huge undertaking when a facility decides to switch pharmacy vendors and there is a massive amount of work involved for both parties. This means the rejection rate is super high when trying to solicit new business and it can take an extremely long time for a facility to finally “pull the trigger” and switch to Precision.
What do you have your sights set on next?
You’ll just have to wait to find out!
Were you ever influenced by other entrepreneurs?
Gary Vaynerchuck. He gives some serious entrepreneurial and motivational advice, and I strongly suggest you Google him.
What is a day in your life like?
Ninety percent of my day consists of traveling. The farthest facility we service is located in Middletown, New York; which is 90 miles away from the pharmacy, and everywhere in between. I check up on our current client base making sure there are no underlying issues as well as prospecting for new business; whether it be cold-calling in person or on the phone, or establishing new relationships with key people who attend the trade shows. I have two trade shows I am attending as an exhibitor next month to network and promote our company to potential prospects. The first trade show is in Albany and the other is in Bolton Landing. Both are on multiple days, back-to-back, so I also have to plan hotel accommodations.
What is your secret talent?
I consider myself to have the greatest memory. I remember such random things it’s actually freaky.
Daniel, do you have any hobbies?
I own a small DJ company and have been DJing since I am 14-years old. Music is my passion!
What are you never without?
My phone. Unfortunately, you cannot survive in the professional world without it.
What are two of your favorite quotes?
“Timing is everything.”
“You only fail when you stop trying.”
What advice would you give to anyone starting a new business?
Find your niche and never give up on your dreams.
