Rich diversity

Alabama is home to a rich diversity of plant and animal life. It has one of the highest numbers of species of freshwater fish in the United States, as well as a wide variety of bird species. The state is also home to many rare and endangered species, including the red-cockaded woodpecker and the Alabama cavefish.
