ULACD Creates Basketball Legacy in College

Coach Michael Miller and the University of Los Angeles College of Divinity (ULACD) have had the second-best performance of any four-year institution in the country during the last 4 years.

Who is Michael Miller?

Michael Miller, one of California’s greatest accomplished high school and college instructors, is the head coach of the University of Los Angeles College of Divinity (ULACD) basketball program, which over the past 4 years has produced the second-best performance in the country among all four-year colleges.

The University of Los Angeles College of Divinity is the only holder of the title of National Champion for the year 2020.

ULACD’s track record

ULACD, an independent team from Compton, California, compiled a score of 105-8 from 2018 to 2022, good for an overall record of 93%. The one and only NCAA Division II team with a winning reputation over the same 4 years was Northwest Missouri State, with a record of 126-8. (94 percent).

While ULACD broke all victory records inside the state of California over the past 4 years, participating in the previous 3 ACCA National Title games has been their most spectacular accomplishment. They came in second place in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and claimed the ACCA National Championship in 2019–20. On March 7, 2020, ULACD defeated another well-led team Ozark Christian College team at home 97-89 to win the ACCA National Championship, producing their highest score (30-1) throughout the 2019–2020 seasons. Coach Miller earned distinction in the accomplishment by being the first coach to lead a state high school championship team (Ribet Academy 1990–91), a junior college state-wide championship team (Los Angeles City College 1996–97 and 2002–03), and a national championship squad.

Miller’s performance as a successful coach

Wherever Coach Miller has coached, he has had success. The first head coach to win a state championship with both a junior college and high school squad was Miller. Miller set a record by winning 14 straight conference titles while joining Los Angeles City College between 1992 and 2007. His LACC teams outperformed all NCAA Division I Programs from 1999 to 2007 with a total record of 241-38 and a winning average of .864.

ULACD has been a proud member of the Joplin, Missouri-based Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) for five years. Chris Lahm is the ACCA’s incumbent president; it was established in 1982. Lahm, a seasoned coach and manager at Ozark Christian College who has a high level of respect, was recently inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame.
