We must build a world of lasting peace: interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values!!!
Seoul, Korea — Last week we welcomed in the 5th President of the Republic of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inaugural message sent out renewed hope and optimism for our nation, Africa and the world. Today, we make a call from the UPF International Leadership Conference in Seoul, Korea and call for the hearts of our nation to unite and find our moral centre once again.
The dream of the founding father of our nation President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was premised on three core areas viz, national reconciliation, nation building and social cohesion. Today, we call for a revisit to these underlying values of love, building bridges and adopting a culture of service to fellow humans.
We applaud the efforts to build a bridge of unification between North and South Korea that can unite the heart of this beautiful nation. Together we can foster peace, strengthen the development agenda and realise our full potential.
We want to applaud the sterling work of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) all over the world to bring about peace, mutual prosperity and universal values. Their efforts to foster interfaith harmony, to unite global parliamentarians for peace, and to promote the cause of global development.
We want to take this opportunity to invite UPF to South Africa to host a Summit in Africa during this Nelson Mandela Centennial Year 2018. South Africa, Africa and the world needs your message of building a world of lasting peace through interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values.
South Africa as a nation can only sustain its renewed hope and optimism if that is underpinned by fostering interdependence. Greed, avarice and selfishness is destroying and corrupting the heart of our nation. We must honour the memory and legacy of President Mandela by once again fostering a culture of caring for each other, sacrificing for each other and striving for building a common shared destiny.
We cannot run in different directions and expect to be together. We must unite our hearts in finding solutions that can change our country. We must resolve to work together and embrace the values of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values.
Today, we add our voice from the floor of this International Leadership Conference in Seoul, Korea and thank Dr Hak Ja Han Moon and the UPF for promoting the message of peace and development in the world. This comes at a time of extreme crisis in the world and of suffering of millions. We must act together to bring an end to suffering, underdevelopment and that which divides and forments violence.
President Nelson Mandela sacrificed his entire life for the goal of liberation, reconciliation and peace. In remembering his life and legacy let us build peace, foster understanding and bring an end to poverty and under-development.
