We condemn in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attacks on three Catholic Churches this Easter weekend in Sri Lanka that killed and injured hundreds of people.
Those who target packed places of worship have no regard for the sacredness of these places and the sanctity of all human life.
No person of faith will resort to killing innocent worshippers and such extrajudicial killings are demonic, divisive and despicable. We outrightly condemn them as acts that seek to sow enmity, distrust and hatred in our ranks.
The Royal House of Mandela (RHoM) extends its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Sri Lanka. We pray that God Almighty restores peace and justice and appeal for calm as many families have lost loved ones, breadwinners and valuable and law-abiding members of society.
We must not allow these perpetrators of acts of terror to divide us. We must stand together resolutely as people of faith just as we did in the aftermath of the Christchurch killings. The law must take its course and the perpetrators of these heinous acts of mass murder must be brought to book.
The Royal House of Mandela carries the mission of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela to all ends of the globe and supports the cause of international solidarity, human rights and peace for all.
This killing of innocent Sri Lankans is especially painful for us since we enjoy exceptionally good sporting and historic ties with the people of Sri Lanka.
We pray that peace is restored and that Sri Lanka never returns to the dark days of separatism and random acts of terror that devastates our common humanity.
