Garcia speaks about wine in a poetic way. He doesn’t just create award winning, mythically great tasting wines, Garcia feels them. He isn’t just a great winemaker, but a brilliant scientist too. Perhaps a bit eccentric with his ideas for wine production, AurumRed does things a little differently than other wineries. For starters, Garcia wants only positive energy to surround his vineyard and he uses pyramidal energy to help the grapes grow strong. It is a concept that has worked wonders for AurumRed, and it has made the Gold series the most impressive Spanish export available.

Recently, Totalprestige Magazine caught up with the scientist behind AurumRed. Garcia sat down and spoke about his career, ideas and the great tasting wine he has produced.Hilario García isAurumRedowner and winemaker.

Hilario, can you please tell us how you began your own wine business?

The beginning was based on research on health and the application for the curing of diseases based on the balance of life. All of the research, after applying them in medicine with excellent success, were also carried out in animals and then the question “why not plants?” arose. It was applied in different vegetable species with amazing results and, from there, I started my vineyards. That was the origin and birth of AurumRed; to do something unique and different from the plants to its production of wine in the cellar.

Los comienzos han sido tras una investigaci√≥n que desarrolle¬†¬† sobre la salud y aplicaci√≥n para la cura de enfermedades basada en el equilibrio de la vida. Todas esas investigaciones despu√©s de aplicarlas en medicina con excelentes √©xitos se llev√≥ a la pr√°ctica tambi√©n en animales y despu√©s surgi√≥ la pregunta ‚Äú¬Ņy por qu√© no a las plantas?‚ÄĚ Se aplic√≥ en distintas especies vegetales con resultados asombrosos y de all√≠ paso a mis vi√Īas. Ese fue el origen y nacimiento de AurumRed para hacer algo √ļnico y diferente desde las plantas hasta su elaboraci√≥n del vino en la bodega.

Can you tell us about the different types of wines that you produce?

There are three wines. The Gold Series of Cencibel autochthonous vines of more than 100 years and a maximum of 300 bottles per year. Second, is Silver Series composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cencibel and a maximum of 6,000 bottles per year. Finally, a white wine: Sauvignon Blanc with about 3,000 bottles produced a year.

Serie Oro¬† de cepas aut√≥ctonas Cencibel de m√°s de 100 a√Īos y un m√°ximo de 300 botellas al a√Īo.

Serie Plata¬† compuesta de Cabernet Sauvignon y Cencibel y un m√°ximo de 6000 botellas al a√Īo.

Blanco, SauvignonBlanc¬† unas 3000 botellas al a√Īo.

What is unique about AurumRed?

It is a world of its own where more than 100 inventions and aspects provide a distinct sensation and pleasure in the wine’s tasting. Among those inventions there are two to highlight. The wine, after being uncorked, is never sour with the bottle open, and every month that passes, the wine is much better in flavor. And another unique invention is that when pouring wine into the glass, we can have different aromas and flavors depending on the spin.

¬ŅQu√© es especial, diferente y √ļnico en AurumRed?

Es un mundo propio donde m√°s de 100 inventos y naturales aportan una distinci√≥n que se resume en el placer de su degustaci√≥n. Entre esos inventos dos a destacar. Este vino despu√©s de ser descorchado nunca se avinagra con la botella abierta y cada mes que pasa el vino est√° mucho mejor de sabor. Y otro invento √ļnico es que al verter el vino en la copa podemos tener distintos aromas y sabores dependiendo del giro.

AurumRed is said to be the most expensive wine in the world, is that true?

That’s what the press says, but it’s not what matters to me, even though the market is the one who commands and who puts the prices on the bottles. For me, the interesting thing is to make this wine have a different, unique and special taste. The important thing is that the client is involved in a magical world of pleasure and the drinker is full of enjoyment.

Se dice de AurumRed que es el vino m√°s caro del mundo, ¬Ņes eso cierto?

Eso dicen los medios de prensa¬† pero no es lo que a m√≠ me importa mucho aunque el mercado es quien manda y es quien pone los precios.¬† Para m√≠ lo interesante es hacer que este vino tenga un goce diferente, √ļnico, especial y el m√°s exclusivo. Lo importante es que el cliente quede envuelto¬† en un mundo m√°gico de placer donde todas mis aportaciones informativas introducidas en el vino¬† le hagan tener un momento de disfrute lleno de elegantes vivencias.

In the 2013 edition of the prestigious French wine guide, Gilbert & Gaillard, it awarded a score of 97 out of 100 to AurumRed Red Wine, one of the highest scores in the publication. What has this meant for you?

Yes. That year was like that. The following year the score was 98 points. Both years the highest score assigned worldwide in the wine guide. For me, it is not important the score, but how the facts happen. I never participate in scoring competitions given that AurumRed is another concept and in the contests there are many factors involved that are not based on me. But in this case, the person in charge of that magazine tried the wine in a restaurant in Madrid and it had such an impact, according to him, that he wanted to contact me and come to the winery to meet me. This French man located me and came to see me. He wanted to know more about the wines of AurumRed.

Si. Ese a√Īo fue as√≠. El siguiente a√Īo¬† la puntuaci√≥n es de 98puntos. Ambos a√Īos la m√°s alta puntuaci√≥n asignada en todo el mundo en su gu√≠a de vinos‚Ķ Para m√≠ no es importante la puntuaci√≥n sino como suceden los hechos.¬† Nunca participo en concursos de puntuaci√≥n dado que AurumRed es otro concepto y en los concursos hay muchos factores implicados que no son de mi alma. Pero en este caso la persona encargada de esa revista prob√≥ el vino en un restaurante en Madrid y fue tal impacto (seg√ļn √©l) que quiso contactar conmigo y venir a la bodega a conocerme. Este se√Īor franc√©s me localiz√≥ y vino a verme. Prob√≥ los vinos en bodega¬† y ratific√≥ aquello que en el restaurante qued√≥ prendado de ello. Me pidi√≥ que si pod√≠a publicar las notas y puntuaci√≥n del blanco y tinto y acept√©.

How would you describe your career as a winemaker?

With soul. Although there is a lot of research and natural applications, the important thing is the soul, the love for making wine full of elegance. The search for the relationship of the universe and the person through wine.

Con alma. Aunque¬† hay mucha investigaci√≥n y aplicaciones naturales lo importante es el alma, el cari√Īo por hacer vino lleno de elegancia. La b√ļsqueda de la relaci√≥n del universo y la persona a trav√©s del vino.

What has been the most complex part of your career trajectory?

Everything that is innovated is complicated to develop, such as separating aromas and flavors in the glass.

Todo lo que se innova es complicado desarrollar como por ejemplo separar aromas y sabores en la copa.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

Every day, I have unique and indescribable satisfactions. I see the plants every day and notice that they speak to me. People from all over the world want to come and meet me every day. Open a bottle and see how my soul comes out and comes back to me when I drink it. Every minute is wonderful and I live it as my private heaven.

¬ŅY cu√°l ha sido su mayor satisfacci√≥n?

Todos los d√≠as tengo satisfacciones ¬†√ļnicas e¬† indescriptibles. Ver cada d√≠a las plantas y notar que te hablan. Gentes de todo el mundo que a diario quieren venir¬† a conocerme. Abrir una botella y ver como mi alma sale y vuelve a entrar en m√≠ al beberlo. Cada minuto es maravilloso y lo vivo como mi cielo privado.

What is currently the main AurumRed market?

There are a few bottles available and they are very spread all over the world. So, itis global.

Son pocas botellas y est√°n muy repartidas por todo el mundo.

What are the future plans for AurumRed?

There have been many diverse plans since the beginning of AurumRed in art, culture, cinema, and more. As an example, a great concentration of ingenuity in sculptural works is being carried out together with world-class artists in the world of contemporary art and the center of these works are inspired by AurumRed. Works that will be exhibited around the world and it is something unique until now.

¬ŅQu√© planes de futuro tiene para AurumRed?

Infinitos. Hay muchos que son diversificados desde la integraci√≥n de AurumRed¬† en el arte, la cultura, cine, etc. Como ejemplo ya se est√° llevando a cabo una gran concentraci√≥n de ingenio en trabajos escult√≥ricos conjuntamente con artistas de talla mundial en el mundo de arte contempor√°neo y el centro de sus obras est√°n inspiradas en AurumRed. Obras que se expondr√°n itinerantemente en todo el mundo y algo √ļnico hasta el momento.

What is a normal day in the life of HilarioGarcía?

In the morning, I work together with each plant in the vineyard, orchard, gardens and trees. Also, I visit my fish in my river in the garden. Stroll with my dogs and cats. Later in the cellar, a little while with the wine, so that we can feel together. The afternoon at my medical clinic. Some days a month, I give an interview and every two months a trip abroad to give lectures or make an appearance wherever they ask me.

¬ŅC√≥mo es un d√≠a normal en la vida de Hilario Garc√≠a?

Por la ma√Īana cada d√≠a trabajar junto a cada planta en el vi√Īedo, huerta, jardines y √°rboles. Tambi√©n visitar mis peces en mi rio en el jard√≠n. Pasear con mis perros y gatos.¬† Posteriormente en la bodega un ratito con el vino para que juntos nos compenetremos. La tarde en mi cl√≠nica m√©dica.¬† Algunos d√≠as al mes doy alguna entrevista y cada dos meses alg√ļn viaje al extranjero a dar conferencias o hacer acto de presencia all√° donde me lo piden.

What makes you smile?

Wonderful people, simplicity, and goodness. Sunrise. Playing with my cats. Listening to good news. Seeing the plants grow and flourish.

¬ŅQu√© le hace sonre√≠r?

La gente maravillosa. La sencillez. La bondad. La salida del sol. Jugar con mis gatos. Escuchar buenas noticias. Ver crecer y florecer las plantas…

What are you afraid of?

Nothing. The negative is sent it to the other side of my imaginary wall, so that it does not affect.

¬ŅA qu√© tiene miedo?

A nada. Lo negativo lo envío al otro lado de mi muralla imaginaria para que no afecte.

Who is the historical character that you most admire?

Many. Among them are Alexander the Great, Hannibal and Leonardo Da Vinci.

¬ŅQui√©n es el personaje hist√≥rico que m√°s admira?

Muchos. Entre ellos Alejandro Magno, Aníbal, Leonardo Da Vinci.

Hilario, do you have any hobbies?

Being in the cellar surrounded by plants, vineyards and gardens with its waterfalls of water. Contemplating the birds and the landscape. Picking the fruit from my trees or any food from my garden. There is no better hobby than these and sometimes reading a book, listening to music or feeling the peace of the moment in any corner of this little paradise.

Estar en la bodega rodeado de las plantas, vi√Īas y jardines.¬† Con sus cascadas de agua. Contemplando los p√°jaros y el paisaje. Cogiendo la fruta de mis √°rboles o cualquier alimento de mi huerta. No hay mejor hobby que estos descritos¬† y a veces leyendo un libro, escuchando una m√ļsica o sintiendo la paz del momento en cualquier rinc√≥n de este peque√Īo para√≠so‚Ķ

What have you sacrificed for success?

Success has not been sought and therefore there has been no sacrifice. Everything has been a pleasure.

¬ŅQu√© ha sacrificado por el √©xito?

No ha sido buscado el éxito y por ello no ha habido sacrificio. Todo ha sido y es un placer.

Anything else you would like to add to this interview?

My life is full of experiences. I have learned to immerse myself in positive experiences, learn from any wind, listen to colors, see sounds, smell silence and touch feelings. They, together and obedient to my messages, enter the wine and rest in each bottle. When an enchanted soul takes that jewel home to share with his company he must open the magic that will come from within and will charm the special moment. The bottle is accompanied by a medal that will seal that memory for life between two hearts that beat in unison.

¬ŅAlguna cosa m√°s que le gustar√≠a a√Īadir a esta entrevista?

En mi vida llena de experiencias he aprendido a impregnarme de vivencias positivas, aprender de cualquier viento, escuchar los colores, ver los sonidos, oler el silencio y tocar los sentimientos. Ellos juntos y obedientes a mis mensajes entran en el vino y descansan en cada botella. Cuando un alma encantada se lleva esa joya¬† a casa para compartir con su compa√Ī√≠a debe abrir la magia que saldr√°¬† de dentro y¬† hechizar√° el momento especial. La botella va acompa√Īada de una medalla que sellar√° ese recuerdo de por vida entre dos corazones que latir√°n al un√≠sono.
