Featuring Daniel T. DeBaun

Daniel T. DeBaun, the Co-Founder and CEO of DefenderShield, inspired society through his company. During his recent discussion with us, he explained how DefenderShield works as a health and wellness company focused on providing knowledge, education, and products to  improve digital wellness and reduce the harmful effects of technology. DefenderShield began with just a laptop shield for his family members that was capable of blocking the full spectrum of potentially harmful electromagnetic field (EMF) frequencies from direct contact with the user’s lap. He later expanded into a full range of products that could be produced with their novel electromagnetic spectrum shielding materials.

“The starting point for DefenderShield happened 12 years ago. My adult sons were visiting and using their laptops on their laps for hours at a time. My wife, with a social services background, intuitively told the boys that a laptop will prevent her from being a grandma. I, a Bell Labs engineer, told her the power level could not harm the body. We later found medical research that showed otherwise, which led me to design a laptop shield for them, and then we got requests from friends and neighbors. Over time, we realized we were a company, and officially created DefenderShield.“
