Alysson Bourque

Alysson Bourque is the author of the multi-award-winning children’s book series, The Alycat Series, based in Louisiana.
Bourque began her career as a teacher after graduating from University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned a law degree from Southern University Law Center in 2007. After practicing law for six years, it was time to trade in writing trial briefs for writing children’s books and collaborating with non-profits to support philanthropic initiatives such as Foster the Love with First Lady, Lafayette Walk to Defeat ALS, The Family Tree B&N Event, Wild Cat Foundation, and Hayley’s Bracelet fundraiser to benefit Lurie Children’s Hospital, Operation Shower, RainBowie Foundation.
One book in 2016 has now turned into six books in a series that has sold more than 20,000 copies, won over 23 awards, has original songs on iTunes and YouTube and has been featured in the Official Grammy’s Swag Bag and Oscar’s Gift Bag, the cover of Story Monsters Ink Magazine, and the New York Times Square billboard. With a grassroots, word-of-mouth business plan, the series. has garnered praise around the world from notable fans like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York who featured Bourque and her life-size mascot, Alycat, on her popular YouTube channel, Little Red News…
